Dangerous Dogs and Proud Empty Dangerous Dogs and Proud

Post by LyndaW Wed Aug 06, 2014 12:13 am

I was told about this programme on channel 5 by a chance-met fellow dog walker today (well, yesterday now). It was broadcast 4th august, and I have just finished watching it on catch-up via the internet and am, in general, appalled. Not only by the narrow concentration on two breeds (supposed "pit bulls" and Staffies) but also by the (in general) ghastly owners.

Has anybody else seen it? If so, what is your opinion?

Seems all these shows focus on the terrible people that own these dogs. I don't think I've ever heard of someone 'normal' (and probably boring) being aired with their dog.

I haven't dared to watch it sad It would just upset me, taking into account all the things I've heard about it.

It was. The "balance" was a girl (a "model") who saw fit to have three pitbulls, but to her credit was doing her best to abide by the rules.

The rest were people who saw (and treated) their dogs as weapons.

A part of me wants to see what it's about, but I'm not going to. I don't think I could watch it all the way through!

Not pleasant viewing for sure, mainly due to the attitude of "proud" owners.

Worst bit was seeing "proud" owner's friend (they all saw fit to talk in mock-Jamaican accents which is enough to make me see red anyway) kick the dog to make him "hard".

How have these people not been prosecuted? Since when is it okay for somebody to not just get away with breaking the law, but to be rewarded with publicity for doing it? sad

I've neither seen nor heard of this. Do I want to?
Can someone put up a link?
Kicking dogs? Dogs as weapons!
Maybe I should back away before I say something to the owners that shouldnt (or should really) be said.

Here it is, but I'd save the time in your life for something far more interesting, like watching paint dry.

Well it won't teach you anything Eleanor, apart from how ghastly some of our citizens are.

It was appalling and yes they did try to make a vain attempt at balance for the girl with the "pitbulls" but they portrayed her and tbh she portrayed herself as a bimbo

Yes, it was a very back-handed compliment wasn't it. But I suppose balanced and "normal" owners of Staffies and whatever-related breeds wouldn't have made such "entertaining" telly.
