First topic message reminder :

Not an emergency case, as it's only a very small amount of watery, pale blood. Not digested, so it's from his lower digestive tract. We're almost certain that he's been chewing his bedding, so it's probably irritated his linings. He's been going to the toilet, eating properly, no lethargy, etc..

Seems like what ever it is he's eaten is currently in his rectum (or near it) and is just waiting to pass through. We're going to keep an eye on him. If he gets any worse, it'll be a vet trip. Probably the same case as last time though - he puts everything in his mouth.

I've thrown away some of his tattered bedding. In future, the first time we catch him chewing on any of it, the blanket will be taken away and replaced with a new one. Will also wash them regularly to get rid of any food traces.

Poor Spike! sad Not surprised he's a hungry boy!

Demps doesn't eat poo as much as he used to, thank God!

So glad to hear that Dempsey is feeling better.

Castor oil is fairly violent stuff, as I remember when I had to take it when both my babies were well overdue - the aim was to shake up the insides so much as to bring on labour! (And no, it didn't work, although I had the cleanest insides this side of colonic irrigation).

Dempsey my darling, my sympathy is with you. Ask Caryll and Eleanor to follow up the dose of castor oil immediately afterwards with a spoonful of golden syrup, your aunty Lynda found that helped a lot. And be grateful that your Mummies haven't discovered Lactulose (ssshhh!)

And after all the explosions and you have the cleanest insides in dogdom, reflect and consider - is eating things dogs shouldn't really worth it?

Good luck and good health to you all.

Unfortunately, Lynda, his brain isn't the sharpest, and probably isn't in his head - it's a couple of feet further back & hanging under his tail!

Poo is Important Shisa!

I am glad for Dempsey's sake that he is back to normal and has avoided castor oil, and even worse - lactulose. Everyone forget that word, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

The problem now is I think he's got used to a couple of extra walks a day for a toilet break & he's actually looking to go out! Recently, with the bad stomach, he's been having about 5 walks a day (he won't toilet in the garden unless it's really desperate!). I've now got to find a way of going back, b it by bit, to the previous routine! shocked

Yes, that's another thing - he actually looks to take his toy with him on every walk except the last one. And even then I think he would if he wasn't so tired!
