I know ive been away awhile but..., im house bound for awhile.

Jess couldnt get up, stand yesterday. I rang the vet. A great vet. I said... she cant get up! Can you come? Icant lift her. He said give me 20 mins? Ill be right there!
I was so scared to call him....he'd say... I think its time to end it! Terrified I rang mum. She said.. you cant leave her like that. I said ill give her 12hrs, see what happens.mum said, no... you're not thinking straight! Shes been a loyal friend. Make the call... brace for the worst... hope for the best.

Shes 13 next month. Xxx

He came, said, shes had a minor stroke. Keep her very quiet. Watch her. If she vomits, call me immediately! Itlltake at least a week. Shes go down very fast in 2 days or recover in a week.

Well! Im so freaking happy! She stood up to go out 3 times today! Ive never been so happy to watch her pee and squat and lift herself up again and walk to the house. Shes crashed 99% of the day but..... shes up!

Freaking YEAH!

Oh, Tracy, when I started reading I thought the worst!

What a relief that she's rallying, you must be so happy for her. It's strange, but dogs seem to cope far better with minor strokes that people do. My gentlest hugs to Jess - tell her get well soon from me!

How are you, by the way?

Sorry to hear you are housebound, I hope it's only temporary.

My first dog was also a Jess, she had a minor stroke at 13, and then another at 14; she recovered from them both, and the only sign that she'd had them was a slight head-tilt afterwards. She went to the bridge at 14.5 from something totally unrelated. I hope your Jess is back to normal very quickly hug

Caryll.... I trully thought id loose her that day. I realky didnt want to call the vet for fear of what he'd say yet wanted him to come to help her..

Lorraine... its remarkable how shes recovered! Shes nearly jess before. Shes chased tyson in the house, pinned him down with her head and paws... shes still wobbly.. but her spirit still wants to play..

Tracy, all of us who have had elderly dogs recognise and sympathise with you with the horrible scare you have had with Jess. Thank heavens she has rallied and is enjoying life again.

Lovely to hear from you again, and hoping that you yourself are also feeling very much better soon hug

It's always the way when you give your heart to a dog, but the love they give you makes the heartache worthwhile!

How are YOU feeling?
