Meet Jock
Jock is our new addition and has been with us for just under 2 weeks. He is an ex racer and came to us via the Retired Greyhound Trust.

Re: Meet Jock
He's a beauty!
One of the few dogs that Dempsey gets along with is also a retired greyhound - an elderly girl called Lady.
Is he easy to live with? I've heard that some retired racers can take a while to settle?

Re: Meet Jock
He's a dream, nothing seems to bother him at all.
We've left him for an hour or so on a couple of occasions and videoed him whilst we were out to see what he did - he just laid on his bed and went to sleep.
He doesn't seem fussed by the washing machine or any routine household noises.
He initially showed an interest in our cats and fancy rats but now hardly bats an eyelid at either
In short, he's a cracker!

That's good to hear.
The lady who owns Lady also adopted a male but he had awful problems adjusting to indoor life.

Re: Meet Jock
Jock is lovely, a beautiful colour and you can see in his eyes that "some-one is there".
I meet several ex-racers on Kuchar's walkies, and some (but by no means all) seem quite stunned. One owner told me it was due to what they've "gone through" - poor things.

I'm afraid Jock's mum has deleted her account, no idea why.

Yes, didn't say a word - would've been nice to know why.

Re: Meet Jock
I can't see that you said anything bad, or that was untrue. There's an ex-racer in the Dog's Trust I work at, and he's scared of life, poor boy

I can't see that it's anything that was said, maybe the forum just isn't busy enough?

It's a lovely, friendly forum. OK, not hundreds of people and some people have been missing of late, but what's not to like.

Yes, I don't think we'll see too much more of either Tracy (I think we offended her somehow) or Theresa (she posts mainly on ourgermanshepherds now).
But we're stll here if anyone wants to chat!

Re: Meet Jock
I think Tracey WAS ill for a while, but she'd not posted here for a couple of weeks before. Mind you, I could well be wrong!
Theresa is, I know, busy with work, her courses & her dogs, so maybe she just doesn't have a lot of time?
